is a 8.5 mile trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders in the Peak District.
The trail runs from the old train station at Bakewell to Topley Pike junction near Buxton. It follows the trackbed of the former Manchester, Buxton, Matlock and Midlands Junction Railway
, built by the Midland Railway
in 1863 to link Manchester with London. The railway line closed in 1968 by the Labour Minister for Transport, Barbara Castle.
The line remained unused for twelve years until it was taken over by the Peak District National Park.
