Axminster Pillbox is located on the east bank of the River Axe, Axminster, Devon.
The box is a type FW3/28, a hexagonal stone block 6 pdr. gun emplacement with 2 gun bays facing NW and S guarding the crossing of the river at Bow Bridge. The maximum range of the gun was 600 yards.
It stone-block shuttered, with the strange feature, a concrete block that bisects the arc of fire from the massive main embrasure. This block may well represent a later modification.
The pill box is one of sixteen Anti-tank gun emplacements on the Taunton Stop Line.
