Peak Rail 1940's Weekend 2008 was held at the Peak Rail Rowsley Depot. It featured many re-enactors from the early 1940's and the stations along the track were put on a war footing.
Peak Rail is a heritage and preservation group, with its line located between Matlock and Rowsley. It operates a steam and diesel service.
The preserved railway line is approx 4 miles long. Plans have been made to extend the line to Bakewell. It has three stations on the route, Matlock station, Darley Dale station and Rowsley South station. A small museum is located at Darley Dale station and a souvenir gift shop is located at Matlock station.
